How Fast is Red Rook?
Tier 1 - almost on the backbone itself!
The Red Rook web servers are located within state-of-the-art data centres in Sydney, Australia.
From these Australian web servers the connection is 100Mb Synchronous, Full Duplex, to the internet backbone via a Cisco router. From there, a fibre-optic 155Mb link to the border router.
The data centres in Australia have redundant fibre-optic connections to four diverse Tier 1 backbones (Optus, Power Tel, Telstra, NTT Verio), and multiple fibre entrances for added redundancy. Any speed drop-offs only occur if a problem arises with any of the major Australian bandwidth carriers. There is also fully redundant routing/switching equipment within our Australian data centre.
In other words, Red Rook's connection is almost on the Internet backbone itself...which means very FAST access for visitors to your web pages!
