What is a Domain Alias?
A domain alias is a domain which appears to "redirect" to one of your primary web site's folders. The web site address that displays to the visitor is the domain alias, and not the domain that has been "redirected" to.
The domain alias points to the same website content as another domain name.
For example, you could have your web site hosted at www.yourdomain.com, with www.yourdomain.com.au as a domain alias to www.yourdomain.com Anyone visiting either domain will see the same webiste as hosted at www.yourdomain.com
A domain alias allows you to use multiple domain names for the same website content, without actually needing to pay for additional hosting packages. Often, a domain alias attracts a small fee compared to a full hosting service.
A domain alias is not able to receive email or redirect/forward email. A domain alias is configured at the server level and must be enabled by your website host.
