WebMail
All of Red Rook's web hosting packages come with WebMail. This allows you to view your emails via your web browser from anywhere in the world. It functions much in the same way as Hotmail.
WebMail is a very useful tool for collecting and even sending emails, especially for those overseas or on holidays, or unable to collect emails to their local machine. It is similar in function to Hotmail and is by NO means better than sending or receiving emails to your local computer, just more convenient in some circumstances. In fact we would go as far as to say it is a very good BACKUP email program accessible from anywhere in the world.
Disadvantages of relying ONLY on WebMail include the following:
- No local computer copy of ANY emails.
- If your Internet connection dies, then any NEW email you may have been typing will be lost unless you SAVE the typed text from your browser window to say a local text document.
- If you ACCIDENTLY CLICK the WRONG browser button or SHUT the WRONG browser Window, any currently created emails that have not yet been sent WILL BE LOST.
In summary, Webmail is very convenient, especially when travelling or out of the office, however, it is always advisable to download/collect your emails to your local computer whenever possible.
